Streams

Streams hosts your finished videos for viewers. Plinken encodes the video for adaptive playback, gives you a player link and an embed code, and keeps a lossless master if you want one. This is for delivering a finished piece; for performing live to the people in your space, see On Air.

Hosted video and streams need the Studio plan. See Plans & credits.

Two tabs:

  • Streams — every hosted video, with an HLS/DASH badge and a status: Processing…, Ready, or an error. Each card has play, Open in Stream, Embed code, details and delete. Details show the stream id, source, resolution, cost and the HLS and DASH links.
  • Masters — the ProRes masters you chose to keep, with Download ProRes master.

An empty list says “Encode a video with stream delivery to see it here.”

Press New Stream and work down the form.

  1. Format — Landscape, Portrait or Square, then 4K, Full HD, HD or Custom. The sizes follow the orientation, for example 1920 × 1080 for landscape Full HD and 1080 × 1920 for portrait.
  2. Source — one of:
    • Upload — a file from your device: MP4, MOV, WebM, up to 5 GB.
    • Video File — a video already in your space, such as a render from the Bounce panel.
    • EXR Sequence — a .pref reference to an EXR frame sequence in your space, for footage rendered outside Plinken.
  3. Quality — bitrate and frame rate. Tick Keep ProRes master in R2 for a lossless archival copy that appears under Masters.
  4. Audio — Include audio track and its language. You can add further audio tracks in other languages.
  5. Captions — Auto-generate with AI transcribes the audio; Auto-translate to additional languages adds translated caption tracks. Or Upload .vtt files you made yourself.
  6. Access — Public — anyone with the link, Space — members only or Owner — only you. Require signed URLs stops the link from being shared on; Allow download lets viewers save the file.
  7. Metadata — title and description for the player.

Encoding takes a few minutes; 4K takes two to five. The card shows Processing… until it is Ready.

  • Open in Stream opens the player page.
  • Embed code copies an iframe for your own site.
  • The HLS and DASH links in the details work in any player that supports them.

Studio includes a monthly allowance of hosted video minutes and audience watch time; beyond that, hosting is charged in Plin. The card details show the cost of each stream. EXR sequence encodes are charged per second of video, by resolution.
