Hardware inputs
The In section shows one mono strip for every input channel of your audio device: In 1, In 2 and so on, grouped in collapsible blocks of eight.
What an input strip does
Section titled “What an input strip does”An input strip is a direct monitor path. Its signal goes to the master (and to any subgroup or FX return you assign) without passing through a track, so you can hear a microphone or an instrument immediately, at full quality, before you ever arm a track. The same input can still feed an armed track: pick it as the track’s input source in the track header.
Each strip has the full set of controls: phase, Low cut, Gain, Comp, EQ, sends, Balance, Solo, Mute and fader. Gain and Mute are applied before recording and are printed into the take; the fader only affects what you hear.
Where the inputs come from
Section titled “Where the inputs come from”- In the browser you get the stereo pair of the device chosen under Settings → Audio → Grid / Mixer devices.
- With Plinken Run connected every channel of your interface appears, up to 48 inputs, and the runner opens them natively at one-buffer latency.
Local to this device
Section titled “Local to this device”Input strips are your monitoring: their settings are stored on this device and are not shared with peers, because everyone in a Space has different hardware. Track strips, by contrast, are part of the project.
