Sign in & your nickname

Open app.plinken.com. The sign-in page asks for a nickname first, then offers three ways to sign in.

The Nickname field is mandatory and needs at least two characters. It is the name everyone sees for you: in chat, on call tiles, in presence and on recordings.

The nickname belongs to this device. You can be “Mat” on your Mac and “Mat (iPad)” on your iPad; your email stays your identity. If you leave it empty you see Please enter a nickname (at least 2 characters).

  1. Enter your email and click Sign In.
  2. Plinken emails you a six-digit code. The page shows Code sent to your address.
  3. Type the code into the 6-digit code field and click Enter. The code expires after ten minutes.

Use ← Different email to start over with another address.

Click Continue with Google or Continue with GitHub. You are sent to the provider, approve the sign-in, and return to Plinken signed in. The nickname you typed is kept.

Sign in with Passkey uses Face ID, Touch ID, Windows Hello or a security key. It is greyed out until you have enrolled a passkey: sign in another way first, then open Settings → Account → Passkeys and enroll. The hint under the button says Enroll in Settings after sign-in.

You land in Chat with Plinky, unless you followed an invite or a project link. In that case Plinken takes you to that Space, call or project.

Every email can sign in. What you can do inside depends on your plan: on the Free plan you join Spaces that others invite you to.

Open Settings → Account. The nickname there is the one this device sends to every Space you enter.

Settings → Account has two buttons:

  • Sign Out ends your session but keeps cached files on this browser for a fast return.
  • Sign Out & Clear All also removes every cached file, project asset and saved preference. Use it on any computer that is not yours. See Shared & public computers.
