Subgroups & FX returns
Subgroups
Section titled “Subgroups”There are eight subgroups, Sub 1 to Sub 8. Assign a strip to a subgroup with the group buttons on the strip; its signal is then summed in that subgroup, and the subgroup’s fader sets the level of the whole group. A strip is either in a group or not — there are no per-group send levels.
Use a subgroup for drums, backing vocals or every stem of a scene, so one fader rides them together. Double-click the subgroup’s name to rename it.
FX returns
Section titled “FX returns”There are eight FX returns, FX 1 to FX 8. Add an effect plugin to a return (see Plugins), then raise the matching aux send on any strip to feed it. Each send switches between pre and post fader. The return’s own fader sets how much processed signal reaches the master.
This is how one reverb or delay serves many tracks at once instead of loading a copy on each.
Subgroups and FX returns are part of the project and shared with your peers.
