Shared & public computers

A browser is shared by everyone who uses the computer. Plinken keeps some data in the browser so the app starts fast: cached audio for playback, downloaded assets, the engine files and your preferences. On your own machine that is what you want. On a school iPad, a library PC or a rented studio computer it is not.

Open Settings → Account and choose one of the two buttons:

ButtonWhat it does
Sign OutEnds your session. Cached files stay so the app loads fast when you come back.
Sign Out & Clear AllEnds your session and removes every cached file, project asset and saved preference from this browser.

The app says it plainly: Use Sign Out & Clear All on shared, public, or library computers — it removes every cached file, project asset, and saved preference from this browser so the next person cannot access your data.

  • all Plinken preferences and session data in the browser’s local storage;
  • the streaming audio cache and the asset cache stored on the device;
  • Plinken’s browser databases;
  • the current session.

Nothing in your Space is touched. Projects, assets and chat live on the server and are there when you sign in again anywhere.

  • Choose a nickname you are happy for others to see; it is shown to everyone in the Space.
  • Do not share the Space invite code on a shared screen; anyone with the code can enter.
  • On a computer you do not own, prefer the email code or a passkey over leaving Google or GitHub signed in.
