Automation

Automation tracks hold control curves that drive parameters of the layers in your video monitor — position, scale, rotation, opacity and the other Inspector values — in time with the project.

  1. Add an Automation track and bind it to a layer.
  2. Click Record Automation in the transport bar.
  3. Play the project and move a control in the Inspector. Plinken records the movement from the moment you press until you release.

Each gesture lands as events in the track’s automation region and replaces any earlier events in the same range, so you can punch over a section without clearing the rest.

During playback the latest recorded value at or before the playhead is applied to the layer. While you hold a control, your live input wins over the recorded curve.

Automation events appear in the List tab of the MIDI editor, where you can select, retime, change and delete them.

Automation currently targets video layer parameters. Mixer parameters are not automated yet.
